About Us
Two perspectives. One mission: Your safety.
What happens when expertise in processes underneath the earth’s surface meets knowledge of the processes above it? A comprehensive understanding of natural hazards is created.
It is precisely this synergy that forms the foundation of Monitorius.
As a geologist, Marc Ostermann analyzes the stability of the subsurface and the slow but powerful movements of the earth. As a meteorologist, Judith Käfer understands the atmospheric triggers, such as heavy rain or rapid snowmelt, that can suddenly make these processes dangerous.
This unique combination of geology and meteorology enables us not only to identify risks, but in some cases also to predict them accurately. We combine the best of both worlds to offer you a comprehensive and forward-looking geomonitoring solution that provides you with more than just data: Certainty.
The founders of Monitorius
Mag. Judith Käfer
Co-founder and CEO
“Accurate forecasts save lives and not just in aviation. At Monitorius, we translate complex weather and environmental data into clear decision-making criteria so that you are always one step ahead of threats.”
Judith studied meteorology and geophysics in Vienna and Innsbruck. She started her career within the meteorological departement of Austro Control, where she was responsible for creating and monitoring weather forecasts and warnings for aviation and communicating weather conditions to internal and external customers.
Judith was also Customer Relations Manager, responsible for customer service, developing new products and collaborating with foreign aviation weather services, among other things. In 2025, she founded Monitorius together with Marc Ostermann.
Mag. Dr. Marc Ostermann Co-Founder and CTO
“The underground is constantly in motion. My goal is to make these dynamic processes visible and understandable in order to create practical and reliable safety solutions based on scientific knowledge.”
Marc studied geology and geoinformatics in Innsbruck and Salzburg. Nach seiner Promotion in Geologie leitete er an der Universität Innsbruck mehrere Forschungsprojekte zu großen Bergstürzen in den Alpen, ehe er zur GeoSphere Austria wechselte.
There, Marc was program coordinator for geomonitoring and disaster prevention and was involved in the field of gravitational mass movements. Marc is a member of numerous professional associations and academic committees and publishes regularly in scientific journals. In 2025, he founded Monitorius together with Judith Käfer.
