As a geologist, Marc Ostermann analyzes the stability of the subsurface and the slow but powerful movements of the earth. As a meteorologist, Judith Käfer understands the atmospheric triggers, such as heavy rain or rapid snowmelt, that can suddenly make these processes dangerous.
This unique combination of geology and meteorology enables us not only to identify risks, but in some cases also to predict them accurately. We combine the best of both worlds to offer you a comprehensive and forward-looking geomonitoring solution that provides you with more than just data: Certainty.

Judith studied meteorology and geophysics in Vienna and Innsbruck. She started her career within the meteorological departement of Austro Control, where she was responsible for creating and monitoring weather forecasts and warnings for aviation and communicating weather conditions to internal and external customers.
Judith was also Customer Relations Manager, responsible for customer service, developing new products and collaborating with foreign aviation weather services, among other things. In 2025, she founded Monitorius together with Marc Ostermann.

“The underground is constantly in motion. My goal is to make these dynamic processes visible and understandable in order to create practical and reliable safety solutions based on scientific knowledge.”
Marc studied geology and geoinformatics in Innsbruck and Salzburg. After completing his doctorate in geology, he led several research projects on large landslides in the Alps at the University of Innsbruck before moving to GeoSphere Austria.
There, Marc was program coordinator for geomonitoring and disaster prevention and was involved in the field of gravitational mass movements. Marc is a member of numerous professional associations and academic committees and publishes regularly in scientific journals. In 2025, he founded Monitorius together with Judith Käfer.
The Team
Dr. Tobias Schöffl Natural Hazard and Geomonitoring Expert
“Research has an impact when insights are applied in everyday life. My goal is to visualise the dynamics of alpine natural hazards using real-time data, thereby creating a basis for decision-making that promotes greater safety through user-centred, reliable early warning solutions.”
Tobias received his doctorate from the Institute for Alpine Natural Hazards at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. As part of an international cooperation network, including ETH Zurich, he researched the dynamics of debris flows and various torrential processes and also has extensive expertise in monitoring avalanche and rockfall processes.
Tobias joined Monitorius in January 2026 and contributes his in-depth scientific expertise to the development of robust monitoring and early warning solutions and the implementation of the first projects.
Ing. Patrick Enzinger, MSc Growth & Innovation Manager
“At Monitorius, innovation meets a strong team. I work at the interface between partners and customers, support business development and ensure that good ideas are turned into concrete projects that we implement smoothly.”
Patrick studied international industrial engineering and, since January 2026, has been contributing his experience in business development as Growth & Innovation Manager to further develop scalable strategies, structures and processes.
He also promotes partnerships with public stakeholders and pilot projects with customers. In this way, Patrick contributes to strengthening Monitorius economically, implementing growth in a structured manner and bringing our solutions to market in a targeted manner.
